I just got back from the movies. Sarah and I saw “The Cat in the Hat”. The movie was not great, it was not spectacular, but it was good…and better than mediocre. Mike Myers did a good job of being the cat but I think it could have been better. If anything at all; his performance of the cat was a little off the wall. All in all I liked it, I liked it here and there and everywhere. I liked it Sam I Am; I did like it with green eggs and ham.
The special effects were just the norm but they suited the movie. To my suprise it also followed the story pretty closely but there was some stuff that needed to be added to fill time and space. Thing 1 and Thing 2 were didn’t say much but they commanded a presence just the same as The Cat himself. If you like the book you will like the movie.
The movie was fine but the thing that pissed me off was the row of 15 year olds yelling and screaming and bumping my chair while arguing and fighting behind me for the 45 minutes before the movie started. Every time I go to a movie that isnt rated “R” I get that same experience. The only other way to avoid it is to go to a movie in the middle of the afternoon when kids are in school or go to one that is near curfew for minors.
